Mount Vernon resident Denzel Washington has been nominated for six Academy Awards for his roles in "Cry Freedom," "Glory," "Malcom X," "The Hurricane," "Training Day," and "Flight," winning for "Glory" and "Training Day." Bedford couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones both have Academy Awards.
