Nearly $20K In Grants Awarded To North Castle Library

The North Castle Public Library has received $73,721 in library construction grants to improve both locations in Armonk and North White Plains. The North White Plains branch will receive $53,765 to upgrade exterior lighting, support expanded computer usage and provide additional space for library programming.

Developer May Seek 48-Unit Project At Armonk Site

Plans for a 36-unit condominium project on the site of a former lumberyard in Armonk are being changed again, according to a report by The Examiner. Developer Michael Fareri had gotten the town's approval for 30 full market-price condos and six affordable units at the Bedford Road site but had wanted to move the latter to another property on Maple Avenue, The Examiner reported.

Approaching Cold Front Could Bring Severe Storms To Armonk

The National Weather Service is warning of a risk of severe thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening in a Hazard Weather Statement issued Tuesday morning. The storms could be accompanied by strong to damaging winds with heavy rain that could produce isolated flash flooding in low lying drainage areas, the service said.

Thomas McGrath, 80, Former Armonk Resident

Thomas J. McGrath, of New Paltz, died Wednesday, June 15 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie of congestive heart failure. He was 80. He was born Feb. 1, 1936, in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of the late Michael and Amelia McGrath.

Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, a nonprofit rehabilitation center based in White Plains, opened its newest outpatient rehabilitation clinic in Armonk on Monday, June 13. Located at 99 Business Park Drive, the venue is in the same building that houses the White Plains Hospital Medical & Wellness outpatient center. Situated just off Route 684, the new facility is accessible to residents throughout northern Westchester, including Armonk, Chappaqua, Pleasantville, Mount Kisco, Thornwood and Purchase, along with areas in Connecticut, including Greenwich and Stamford.

Heavenly Productions Foundation recently teamed up John and Marie DeCicco of Armonk DeCicco's and Son's to serve dinner and desserts at the Ronald McDonald House in Valhalla, to families whose children are ill at the Maria Fareri Hospital.
