Stage Company Performing 'Animals Out Of Paper' In Armonk

The Hudson Stage Company announced that it will be performing renditions of Rajiv Joseph's play "Animals Out of Paper" at the North Castle Public Library in Armonk. "In this uncommon love story, Andy, a high school teacher and avid fan, pressures the reclusive Ilana, a world-famous origami artist, into becoming an unwitting mentor to a troubled teenage prodigy named Suresh," the company states in its promotional announcement "These three intriguingly flawed characters begin to reshape and mold each other's lives in much the same way they fold and crease their paper art."

Armonk Fencer Becomes World Champion

Sylvie Binder, a 16-year-old Armonk resident, traveled to Bourges, France for 10 days to represent the United States at the World Cadet-Junior Fencing Championships on April 1. Binder, currently the highest ranked women's cadet under 17 foil fencer in the country, is a two-time Cadet World Team member and earned Team USA's first women's foil gold medal at Worlds since 2010. In 2015, Binder ended her first Cadet Worlds with a bronze medal.

Increased Fire Risk Warning Issued For Armonk

Very dry conditions and a light wind are elevating the potential for brush fires in the region, the National Weather Service said Monday. The humidity values of 15-25 percent, combined with "dry, fine fuels" and above-normal temperatures have led to the Weather Service advisory.

The North Castle Library will host a visit from bestselling author, food critic and judge on "Top Chef Masters", Ruth Reichl Wednesday May 4 in Whippoorwill Hall. The Seattle Times called her "one of the nation's most influential figures in the food world," according to a release.

Byram Hills PTSA Holding Second-Annual 'Principal's Panel'

Armonk-Based Builders Institute Hires New Director

The Builders Institute/Building & Realty Institute of Westchester and the Mid-Hudson Region has hired a new director of membership, advertising and communications. Margaret A. Collins has stepped into the position, bringing with her a "depth and breadth of experience," said Albert A. Annunziata, the BI/BRI 's executive director, in a statement on Thursday, March 31. "Her sales and editorial skills are exceptional, with notable publishers as diverse as The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Harper & Row Publishers and The Civil War Monitor magazine," Annunziata said.
