Brynwood Review Continues After North Castle Town Board Vote

The North Castle Town Board has allowed the environmental review of proposed housing at Armonk's Brynwood Golf & Country Club to continue by voting to accept a key document. The document is called a Preliminary Final Environmental Impact Statement and was recently submitted on behalf of the property's owner, Brynwood Partners LLC. The statement includes a revised proposal, with the number of housing units cut from 88 to 80. The revised plan, in turn, has changes including a proposal to paying the difference between what condos will be taxed and what would be paid if the units were single-family homes.

Acquisition Of 73-Acre Site In Armonk Tops Week's News

Mianus River Gorge will acquire a 73-acre parcel in North Castle for $2.8 million, according to Rod Christie, the preserve's executive director. The purchase is expected to close in the coming months.

Polar Vortex Returns Next Week, But Armonk Should Be Spared

The much maligned "Polar Vortex" will once again drop into the United States in the coming week, creating frigid temperatures and likely some record-low temperatures and wind chills for this time of year. The arctic blast is expected to dip into the northern plains and Great Lakes regions beginning on Sunday, Nov. 9 and last until Friday, Nov. 14. Some areas of the country could see temperatures dip into the single digits, AccuWeather reported.

Brynwood Cuts Housing For Revised Armonk Proposal

Mark Weingarten, an attorney for owner Brynwood Partners LLC, gave an overview of the changes at the North Castle Town Board's meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The housing changes include a cut in the units to 80, down from 88 in a previous iteration. The new unit mix includes 63 condos that would be market rate, 10 "Golf Cottages" that would be taxed like single-family homes and seven affordable housing units.
